Common Procurement & Engineering Questions
What is the proof, and what has been tested?
The strongest proof point is a real-world commercial deployment. RENW Fiber Boxes are in use with TransGourmet seafood in Bremerhaven, packed with wet flake ice and stacked 5-high on pallets with no outer carton in cold rooms (32°F–35.6°F). We have not completed a formal third-party or ISTA validation. We have run internal testing aligned with ASTM methods. In one internal ambient test (70°F–77°F), a Large box with 16 lb of ice and about 7 lb of whole fish held product at or below 40°F for about 19 hours. That is an internal result, not a certification. Validate against your own lane and product before committing volume.
How does the uncoated AKD water barrier work, and when should we use gel packs vs. loose ice?
The Fiber Box has zero plastic film, zero wax, and zero topical spray coating. Moisture resistance comes from bulk wet-end AKD (alkyl ketene dimer) internal sizing dosed directly into the 100% virgin FSC® softwood cellulose (CAS 9004-34-6) slurry and thermally cured in heated matched dies. In refrigerated reefer lanes (32°F–38°F) with commercial gel packs, absorbent soaker pads, or bagged ice, the box runs bare with zero liner. For unrefrigerated ambient shipments or loose wet slush ice where heavy liquid meltwater pools for 24+ hours, we recommend pairing the box with sealed gel packs, absorbent pads, or a standard food-grade poly liner so standing water does not pool under hydrostatic pressure in the deep-draw 3D corners.
Why do you focus on two stock sizes (11.6 Qt Medium and 27.5 Qt Large), and can we order custom sizes?
Our two Core Stock Standards are engineered on a modular 2-on-1 Euro/GMA footprint (two 15.4" × 11.5" Medium boxes interlock side-by-side atop one 23.3" × 15.4" Large lid), covering over 85% of commercial 10–12 lb and 20–25 lb perishable shipping lanes without custom tooling delays. For enterprise programs requiring custom dimensions, internal bottle/vial cavities, or embossed brand logos (25,000+ annual units), we engineer dedicated heated matched-die production tools.
How do the Evaluation Kits, 50% Pre-Order Container Allocations, and Contract Buffer Stock work?
We operate a transparent, working-capital-efficient supply chain: (1) Evaluation Kits (2-piece sample set, FPC-KIT-EVAL: 1× Med + 1× Lrg + Barrier Liners & QA Dossier) are complimentary for qualified commercial cold-chain accounts (1+ pallet/month target volume) or available for direct self-serve purchase at $49.00 (including UPS Ground shipping); (2) Commercial Pallet Orders run on our Batch 01 Container Allocation program (33-pallet 40' HC production batch from Arnstadt, Germany). Buyers place a 50% Pre-Order Deposit today to lock pallet blocks at guaranteed tier pricing, with the remaining 50% balance + landed freight billed upon US port customs clearance prior to final-mile LTL dock delivery (4–6 weeks standard ocean or 7–10 business days via Expedited Factory Air Cargo); and (3) Recurring contract accounts unlock scheduled 3–5 business day LTL releases once their initial buffer batch is staged at the US port transload facility.
How do US grocery receivers, processors, and restaurants dispose of the box?
Clean and empty, the Fiber Box goes directly into standard US commercial cardboard (OCC) balers and municipal blue-bin paper recycling streams alongside regular corrugated boxes, eliminating EPS foam landfill hauling fees. Independent testing by the cyclos-HTP Institute certified an 85% fiber recovery yield in standard paper repulping (PAP 21).
What is the lead time for production allocations and sample kit evaluation?
Evaluation Kits (2-piece sample sets) ship via UPS Ground within 1–2 business days from US staging stock for rapid bench testing. Commercial pallet orders in our Batch 01 container allocation deliver door-to-door in 4–6 weeks via standard ocean transit, or 7–10 business days via Expedited Factory Air Cargo for time-critical production line qualifications.
